Description:A workshop on artificial intelligence and knowledge-based systems applications for fisheries management and aquaculture was held to establish research areas of mutual interest to both groups. A small number of experts was brought together to discuss the pertinent aspects of each discipline relative to the development of expanded computer applications in these areas. The purpose of the workshop was to explore ways in which the considerable body of knowledge developed in these computer-related disciplines may be considered for fisheries and aquaculture applications. Presentation summaries, recommendations, and a research protocol are included in this report.
