Description:Most pelagic gamefish landed in Hawaii are caught by trolling. Despite this fishery's importance, few data exist regarding its catch per unit of effort (CPUE). A quantitative visual assay of the Kewalo Basin, Honolulu, charter sport fishing fleet was conducted to determine CPUE over a 12-month period. On the average, at least one gamefish was caught on about 50 percent of the (8-hour) days fished. Seasonal fluctuations in CPUE were evident. Species landed in decreasing daily frequency were mahimahi, marlin, aku, ono, and ahi.
