Description:This fact sheet answers the most commonly asked questions about PCBs in fish and summarizes the current state fish consumption advisory for PCBs in sport-caught fish. It also explains who faces the greatest risks of developing health problems from eating PCB-tainted fish (which tend to be the larger, older and fattier fish). How to properly clean and cook Lake Michigan fish, which can reduce PCB levels by as much as 30-50%, is explained. A quick-reference, foot-square plastic sign that shows the cleaning technique is also available from UW Sea Grant for $.50.
