Description:Recreation is the third largest industry in Wisconsin, generating about $6.2 billion in gross sales and accounting for 13% of the state's employment. This report discusses trends and growth potential in seven kinds of Great Lakes recreational enterprises: ferry and excursion boats; motor yacht, sailboat and sport diving charters; small boat rentals; and sailing/windsurfing schools. (Charter fishing was omitted from the survey as it is already well documented.) Charter sailing and recreational diving appear to be the two Great Lakes-related industries with greatest potential for growth and economic impact. The report lists all 109 businesses surveyed in the appendices--including addresses, phone numbers, services offered and available equipment.
