Description:In 1967 the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources created the Hanauma Bay Marine Life Conservation District to protect the bay's environment and biota. State law prohibits harming or collecting fish, invertebrates (including corals and shells), seaweeds, rocks, or sand in the bay. This brochure provides simple answers to some of the most asked questions about the bay. There are also descriptions and drawings of some of the more commonly encountered marine species.
