Description:An annual trawl survey is conducted in the eastern Bering Sea to provide information on the distribution and abundance of four species of crabs. This information is provided to fishermen and processors as an aid in locating productive areas and judging the overall availability of crabs. Survey derived ; information is also used as part of the basis for management decisions. This report deals with the results of the 1978 survey with respect to red (Paralithodes camtschatica) and blue (P. platypus) king crabs.
