It includes waste treatability studies; flavor and pigment extraction from the blue crab processing byproducts; collection, analysis, and utilization of biogas generated by the anaerobic treatment of crab processing wastewater; removal of nutrients and ammonia from crab processing waters; and UASB (Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket) and air stripping treatment technologies.
