Description:A survey of New Jersey's inshore surf clam resource was conducted. A total of 268 stations was sampled from June 25, 1991 through August 15, 1991. A commercial hydraulic clam dredge equipped with a 72 inch knife was used to determine clam abundance at each station. Surf clam population structure was determined by measuring clams from a one bushel subsample of the catch per station and constructing length frequency distributions. Juvenile set was monitored by collecting 0.1 square meter Petersen grab samples from each station.
