Objectives: 1. To describe in-river migratory patterns and compare catchability of pre-spawning and post-spawning American shad in pound nets and haul seines in the York River. 2. To explore the application of a novel method (index-removal estimation) for assessing total abundance of spawning American shad and in-river exploitation rate. • To evaluate options for a tagging study using pound nets and haul seines to obtain fish.
