Description:Survey operations were conducted in the western North Atlantic Ocean along the U.S. east coast from offshore of Cape Hatteras south to Cape Canaveral, FL, and along the U.S. Gulf of Mexico (Figure 1.). OBJECTIVES: I) Conduct a study to assess the distribution and abundance of coastal sharks, red snapper (Lutjanus campechanus) and grouper. 2) Collect biological and environmental data at survey sites. 3) Tag and release sharks. 4) Conduct plankton and neuston sampling at 1ongline locations.
