Description:The purpose of this paper is twofold: First, to formally define the problem of optimizing an absolute gravimeter comparison schedule and describe its complexity. It will be clear then that a comprehensive solution is beyond the scope of this work. As a second goal though, we are hopeful that the results and techniques presented here begin to form a common framework and vocabulary for describing, designing, and assessing instrument comparisons.
