Description:A major storm hit Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia on May 6-7, 1984. Rainfall totals exceeding 14 inches were measured. Widespread major flooding occurred throughout the area with near record crests at many locations. Eight deaths were attributed to the storm and damage estimates have exceeded $200 million. An examination of NWS activities during this event has resulted in the general conclusion that the public was well served.
