Description:When constructed in 1982, this wetland had 3 small culverts through the riprap that encircled the site, allowing tidal exchange with adjacent harbor waters. These culverts eventually silted in, largely cutting off tidal exchange and degrading wetland function at the site. The purpose of the modifications described in this report was to promote regular, natural tidal flooding to the site, control debris accumulation, and enhance the site’s habitat value to plant and animal species.
