Description:The Society of Automotive Engineers' Mini Baja Competition originated at the University of South Carolina in 1976. Since then, this intercollegiate competition has been challenging student teams to design and build off-road vehicles. The 2004 University of New Hampshire Mini Baja team designed and implemented a flotation and propulsion system for their latest vehicle. This report describes in detail the process the team went through from design and analysis to production and implementation. The designers considered the achievements and flaws of past vehicles, as well as the rules put forth by the Mini Baja East Competition. The new flotation and propulsion system is discussed in detail, and a breakdown of the budget is included. A discussion section is also included with lessons learned and suggestions for future UNH teams.
