Description:Relative to the November edition of last year’s BSAI SAFE report, the following substantive changes have been made in the eastern Bering Sea (EBS) Pacific cod stock assessment. Changes in the Input Data: 1) Catch data for 1991-2016 were updated, and preliminary catch data for 2017 were incorporated. 2) Commercial fishery size composition data for 1991-2016 were updated, and preliminary size composition data from the 2017 commercial fishery were incorporated. 3) Size composition data from the 2017 EBS shelf bottom trawl survey were incorporated. 4) The numeric abundance estimate from the 2017 EBS shelf bottom trawl survey was incorporated (the 2017 estimate of 347 million fish was down about 46% from the 2016 estimate). 5) Age composition data from the 2016 EBS shelf bottom trawl survey were incorporated. 6) Age composition data from the 2013-2016 fisheries were incorporated into some of the models.
