Description:"An intertidal oyster reef in South Carolina was subjected to mechanical harvesting to assess the effects of such activities on oyster reef communities. Oyster population parameters in the high and low intertidal strata of the experimental reef and an adjacent control site were compared before and immediately after mechanical harvesting and then monitored over an annual cycle to determine long-term effects. Macrofaunal invertebrates assosicated with the oyster beds were studied over the same time period."--Abstract.
