Description:"The present report provides the first extensive account of the distribution of Acanthamoeba species in oceanic bottom-sediments and demonstrates that such amoebae are potential residents of the ocean when bacteria, including the coliform group, are available as a source of food ... Sediment samples in or distant from the Philadelphia-Camden acid or sewage dump-sites were collected during 5 separate Environmental Protection Agency cruises."--Leaves 2-3.
