Description:The S-111 is a standardized digital dataset for surface currents created under the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) S-100 framework. The data model and format for a coverage data product consist of water velocity data at one or more geographic locations and times. The 'surface' (in the definition of Surface Current) is defined here as roughly the water layer at or within several metres of the water surface. Current values are obtained through in situ or remote measurement or by analytic methods or hydrodynamic modelling.
