Description:The NOAA's Surge and Tide Operational Forecast System 2D Global (STOFS-2DGlobal) is a collaborative project designed to provide users with nowcasts and forecast guidance of water level conditions for the entire globe. This system is developed to serve the marine navigation, weather forecasting, and disaster mitigation communities. It uses the ADvanced CIRCulation (ADCIRC) finite element model, which is forced with data from the Global Forecast System (GFS). It runs four times a day, providing nowcasts for the previous 6 hours and forecasts for up to 180 hours. The outputs include forecasts for combined water level (cwl), tidal water level (htp), sub-tidal water level (swl), and water velocity. The report details the upgrades for STOFS-2D-Global version 2, covering its model system overview, the underlying ADCIRC hydrodynamic model, mesh configuration, and operational workflow.
