The objectives of this study were to collect catch, biological, and pathological data for lake whitefish populations exploited by state-licensed commercial fisheries in Michigan waters of Lake Michigan, to assess current status and trends, and to calculate future total allowable catches of lake whitefish in each of the discrete management zones. In particular, study objectives entailed monitoring lake whitefish in the commercial trap-net fishery, calculating an index of pre-recruit lake whitefish from commercial trawl catches, and obtaining samples to test lake whitefish for Rs.
