Description:In accordance with NOAA and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC), the PFBC has monitored in the Lehigh River passage at the Easton and Chain Dam fishways of American shad and stock structure (Figure 1). In addition to the PFBC shad passage monitoring program in the Lehigh River, when necessary the PFBC satisfied Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) spawning stock characterization needs and the PFBC's restoration monitoring needs by 1) collecting adult American shad passing the Easton Dam in order to characterize the spawning population and 2) by collecting outgoing juvenile American shad in order to determine their origin and relative abundance.
