Description:This project involved the use and testing of a relatively new gear-type with, as yet, little exposure in New England. The jigging machines that we used were an all electric reel teamed with a programmable microprocessor, making them a sort of fishing robot. Hydraulically driven models are also available. This technology has been developed in Scandinavian countries where jig fishing remains a viable means of commercial harvest.
