The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Fiscal Year 2003 budget included a $5.0 million appropriation for blue crab fisheries affected by reduced harvest and sales of blue crab. Based on the best available data regarding the condition of Delaware's blue crab fishery/stock and with the availability of congressional funds, the Division of Fish and Wildlife initiated measures to procure and distribute economic assistance monies to fishery participants.
