Description:This report documents recent efforts to describe American eel population dynamics, demographics, and sustainability. Jobs 1 and 3 involved collecting and interpreting demographic data from several tidal rivers and using this information to perform a preliminary quantitative stock assessment. Job 2 details efforts to implement he ASMFC Eel FMP in Maryland and on a multi-state basis through involvement with the Technical Committee, the Stock Assessment SubCommittee, and the Plan Review Team. Since the departure of the acting technical committee member and the subsequent reappointment of a new Maryland representative, no meetings or conference calls discussing eel stock assessment have taken place during the current time period. Therefore, Job 2 willbe omitted from the report. Job 4 documents findings from the young-ofyear abundance survey.
