Description:This study was funded through the NOAA NESDIS Joint Venture Partnership Program (JVP) to explore the potential benefits of NASA’s Signals of Opportunity: P-band Investigation (SNOOPI) mission that intended to use P-band microwave signals to sense Root-Zone Soil Moisture (RZSM). However, the NASA SNOOPI mission ended after 6 data captures due to a power anomaly and the loss of a reaction wheel. Consequently, it was deorbited in September 2024, leaving very limited SNOOPI data for NASA to share with NOAA. It remains unclear whether the NASA SNOOPI Science Team will be able to retrieve RZSM data products or to share the limited data with NOAA.
