Description:Increases in seismic activity following the construction of large man-made lakes or reservoirs have been documented by studies in many regions of the world. In the United States, reservoir-related earthquakes have been reported in Washington, Nevada, California, and Montana. Of five specific sites selected for the current detailed study, Lake Mead has reservoir-related earthquakes, while Cedar Springs and San Luis, California, Flaming Gorge, Utah, and Glen Canyon, Arizona, do not.
