Description:Freshwater for urban, industrial, and agricultural use is an increasingly precious resource worldwide. Over three quarters of the Earth's supply of freshwater is locked up in polar ice. Recent estimates have indicated that this water can be made available for use at 20 to 50 percent of the cost of desalination of seawater.
