Description:The purpose of the workshop was: To familiarize key NMFS personnel with the current and impending state-of-the-art in remote sensing systems and techniques, including biological and environmental indicators used in remote sensing, and types of data resulting from remote sensing. To identify data requirements for the successful solution of specific problems related to the various facets of the National Marine Fisheries Service sphere of responsibility and to define opportunities for data acquisition utilizing remote sensing techniques. To develop preliminary recommendations for solutions of fishery problems using remote sensing techniques, and to develop priority assignments for future fisheries remote sensing research and development programs.
