Description:Early in 1967 the ESSA, Weather Bureau, Techniques Development Laboratory (TDL) discovered a need for certain historical weather grid fields in precipitation studies. These twice-daily, hemispheric fields, in digital form, were found to be available from the files of the U.S. Fleet Numerical Weather Facility (FNWF) in Monterey, California.
