Description:The papers presented in this volume are the result of a symposium held at the National Undersea Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington on September 30 to October 2, 1987. The purpose of the symposium was to establish the current status of coastal oceanography in the Carolina Capes region. Because of intense interest, the symposium volume authors were asked to rewrite their papers to include extensive literature reviews and the latest data available. The papers, as presented, represent the status of oceanography in the region as of January 1990. The volume is organized into three major parts: I. Land/Sea Interaction, II. Studies on the North Carolina Continental Margin, and III. North Carolina Marine Policies and Programs.
