Description:

An Interdepartmental Plan was first issued in 1962. This document is the 15th edition and presents procedures and agreements reached at the annual Interdepartmental Hurricane Warning Conference. The 31st annual Conference was held at the USAF Military Airlift Command Headquarters, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, January 11-13, 1977. The Conference is sponsored by the Subcommittee on Basic Meteorological Services, Interdepartmental Committee for Meteorological Services to bring together cognizant Federal agencies to achieve agreement on items of mutual concern related to hurricane warning services. Joint hosts this year for the conference were the Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service and the Air Weather Service. This edition of the Plan represents a general update of the previous edition. However, major revisions were required in Chapter 4 to reflect a new flight pattern to gather data for input to the numerical models at the National Meteorological Center and to satisfy other Department of Commerce requirements
