Description:The Coastal Zone Management Act was passed in 1972 and provides for management ofthe Nation’s coastal resources, including the Great Lakes, and balances economic development with environmental conservation. Section 316 ofthe Act requires the Secretary ofCommerce report to Congress on the administrative progress ofthe Act biennially.
