Description:"A small-mesh bottom trawl fishery for Loligo pealeii (longfin inshore squid) occurs throughout the year on the continental shelf of the east coast of the United States. During winter, the fishery is concentrated in the offshore waters of the Mid-Atlantic Bight and Southern New England. Several types of high-opening bottom trawls are used in the fishery, but all are comprised of small-mesh, diamond codends"--Introduction.
