Description:On November 13, 1963, the Bureau of the Budget (now the Office of Management and Budget) issued Circular A-62 in response to Section 304 of Public Law 87-843 directing the Department of Commerce to: • With the advice and assistance of other agencies concerned, establish procedures designed to facilitate a systematic and continuing review of basic and specialized meteorological requirements, services and closely related supporting research. • To the maximum extent practicable and permitted by law, provide those basic meteorological services and supporting research needed to meet the requirements of the general public or the common requirements of other agencies. • Prepare and keep current a plan, and obtain periodic information on its implementation for the efficient utilization of meteorological services and supporting research. Establish appropriate arrangements for obtaining continuing advice from the principle agencies concerned.
