Description:This document outlines the requirements and recommendations for the establishment and operation of GNSS stations in the Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) network, managed by NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS). The CORS network is a multi-purpose cooperative endeavor involving more than 220 government, academic, commercial, and private organizations. Although participation in the CORS network is voluntary site operators must adhere to certain basic standards and conventions. CORS sites have a fundamental role in establishing and giving access to the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS). Implementing these guidelines aims to minimize GNSS signal distortion and maximize the quality of calculated positions, in accordance with models used in processing GNSS data, to obtain centimeter to sub-centimeter accuracy.
