Description:In accordance with Section 7(c) of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) of 1973, as amended, the Navy is responsible for preparing a Biological Assessment and for consulting with National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) on the possible effects ofthe current and proposed activities on marine resources within the Southern California (SOCAL) Range Complex (RC) (Figure 1-1). This marine Biological Assessment (BA) analyzes the potential effects of ongoing and future training activities and research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) activities in the SOCAL RC on federally listed threatened and endangered species under the jurisdiction of NMFS.
