Description:Red hake (Urophycis chuss; family Phycidae; order Gadiformes) is a medium size benthic fish (Figure 1.1) that is distributed typically in soft-sand and mud habitats from Cape Hatteras, North Carolina (U.S.A.) to the Gulf of St. Lawrence (Canada) (Figure 1.2). This species is one of eight in the genus Urophycis, all of which occur in the western Atlantic Ocean.
