    The concept of the first Pacific Congress on Marine Technology (PACON 84) was originated in August 1982. The purpose of the Congress was to start a dialogue among the marine technologists and technocrats in the Pacific Basin. Due to its broad and interdisciplina​ry scope, the technical sessions of the Congress are grouped under two categories, namely Ocean Sciences & Technology (OST) and Marine Resources Management (MRM).
