  • Description:
The authors of this report present air-sea heat flux calculations used in the 'Conductive Overturn Experiment' (CONVEX). Fist, bulk formulae are used to estimate the relevant winter 1997-98 CONVEX heat and associated mass fluxes from available measurements. Then, an alternate set of bulk formulae is used to estimate the heat and mass fluxes for the winter 1986-87 scenario. In both cases, some measurements necessary to compute the heat fluxes from the respective set of bulk formulae at the Wilkinson Basin (Gulf of Maine) 1998 buoy site were not available. A procedure was devised to estimate wind, dew point temperature, and air temperature at the site using National Weather Service and National Data Buoy Center measurements surrounding Wilkinson Basin.
