Description:Kelleys Island, Lake Erie, became the largest producer of high-quality limestone in the world. Various stone products were transported from the island by merchant steamers and sailing vessels. The steamer "Adventure", met a disastrous end in 1903 while engaged in this trade. This paper describes the shipwreck site of the "Adventure" and documents the history of this vessel, in the context of the flourishing limestone industry of her era.
