Description:The Gulf Oyster Industry Program has been working for five years to restore the commercial and economic viability of U.S. oyster harvests. The Program reports here on activities addressing the two over-arching problems in the oyster industry--habitat alterations and disease (including pathogens that affect humans). Partial solutions to these challenges are discussed along with oyster lease legal issues and new ideas in culture and marketing.
