Description:"The National Ocean Service (NOS) Northern Gulf of Mexico Operational Forecast System (NGOFS) has been developed based on a three-dimensional hydrodynamic modeling system, the Finite Volume Coastal Ocean Model (FVCOM) (Chen et al., 2007). The unstructured model grid was constructed and populated with bathymetry obtained from NOS hydrographic survey soundings and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers survey data. FVCOM for NGOFS was calibrated and evaluated with observed data obtained from various government agencies and private companies"--Executive summary.
