Description:"The objectives of this project were twofold: (i) to undertake a comprehensive biotic inventory of Kent County (this included a special emphasis on rare species), and (ii) to assess and describe the full array of natural communities found within the coastal zone of Kent County, Delaware. Data collected during this study can then be used in conservation and protection efforts taking place in the county... Assessments and descriptions of natural communities were made by recording species compositions at each site, and determining the dominant species present for the tree, shrub, and herb strata. In those habitats that were deemed to be of sufficient quality, one or more plots (of varying sizes) werer established and each species' percent cover value was estimated... Surveys were taken in palustrine and estuarine wetland habitats which included hardwood swamp forests, Coastal Plain ponds, fresh-tidal marshes, brackish and salt marshes and terrestrial hardwood forests."--p.1-2.
