"Salisbury State University's Image Processing & Remote Sensing Center was contracted... to perform a complete forest inventory of the State as part of, and in compliance with, the Forest Conservation Act of 1991... The inventory is based on the derivation of forest signatures through computerized means from digital Landsat satellite data through the use of image processing, remote sensing and statistical techniques suitable for inclusion in a standard Geographic Information System (GIS)."-p.1.
