Description:The issue of a Gulf of Alaska pollock trip limit has been before the Council a number of times, dating back to the late 1990s. The initial Council action was in 1999, with a corresponding action for State waters from the Alaska Board of Fisheries the same year. The Council has been advised through public testimony that a problem exists with the current trip limit regulation. This analysis evaluates the existing situation, and analyzes two potential alternatives to resolve the problem.
