Description:"The Environmental Assessment associated with Regulatory Amendment 20 analyzed the effects of a range of alternatives that update the snowy grouper annual catch limits based on the acceptable biological catch recommended by the Council's Scientific and Statistical Committee, and results of a 2012 stock assessment. Regulatory Amendment 20 also revises management measures (trip limits and fishing seasons) for snowy grouper. At their September 2014 meeting, the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council approved Regulatory Amendment 20 for review by the Secretary of Commerce. The need for the amendment is to prevent overfishing and continue rebuilding the snowy grouper stock while minimizing, to the extent practicable, adverse social and economic effects"--Cover letter summary.
