Description:This is the latest extension of the NOAA-CMA Protocol on Cooperation in the Field of Atmospheric Science and Technology, first signed in 1979 when CMA was known as the Central Meteorological Bureau.
NWS manages this protocol for NOAA. Joint Working Groups are held every two years. JWG-19 was held in 2015 in Washington, D.C., and JWG-20 will be held in China in 2017.
NESDIS co-chairs the High Level Working Group on Satellite Matters under this Protocol (begun 2011), leads the cooperation under the Working Group on Satellite Meteorology, and contributes to the Climate Research Working Group.
