Description:"Stepped oblique mid-water Cobb trawls of the shallow, nighttime sound scattering layer were conducted at stations spanning the North Pacific subtropical frontal zone (STFZ). Conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) casts to 1000 m depth were conducted every 0.25° latitude across the STFZ. Two-hour acoustic transects were conducted every 0.5° latitude across the STFZ, as well as during both daytime and nighttime at trawling stations. Acoustic backscatter, and surface temperature and salinity were collected continuously throughout the project"--Type of operation.
