Description:"The ninth in a series of bottom trawl surveys of the Gulf of Alaska groundfish and invertebrate resources was completed during the summer of 2005 by the Resource Assessment and Conservation Engineering (RACE) Division, Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). The design of the 2005 biennial groundfish survey closely followed that used for prior Gulf of Alaska surveys conducted in 1984 (Brown 1986), 1987 (Stark et al. 1988), 1990 (Payne and Stark 1991), 1993 (Payne and Martin 1994), 1996 (Stark 1997), 1999 (Stark and Raring 2000), 2001 (Raring In prep. a), and 2003 (Raring In prep b). The purpose of the surveys is to describe and monitor the current distribution, abundance, and biological condition of the important groundfish stocks and continuation of the time series in support of groundfish stock assessments"--Introduction.
