Description:The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) conducts the Marine Recreational Fisheries Statistics Survey (MRFSS) to develop estimates of fishing effort and catch in the territorial U.S. During the 2003-04 study period, questions designed to elicit fishing location information were added to the MRFSS survey in Puerto Rico. The purpose of this analysis is to provide quantitative results on the spatial distribution and frequency of fish catch in the study area and calculate statistical measures of local indicators of spatial association. The locations and densities of fish were identified using GIS. The spatial distributions of fish data were analyzed using spatial statistics in GIS. This analysis was conducted to determine if the distributions of fish in the study area occur in statistically significant patterns and if the data occur in clusters with areas of similarly high or low values of fish catch values. Tests of statistical significance were also conducted.
